Lewes, East Sussex, my home town for 21 years! Its a wonderful town for locals and a definate day trip for tourists of people interested in a bit of history. The cobbled streets and quant, beautuful buildings will be a treat for a classic town lover. I dont know if anyone could miss the terrible flooding that hit Sussex a couple of weeks ago? The whole of Lewes and Uckfield were devastated. There is a tunnel that links Lewes to the main Brighton road called the Culfail Tunnel which is supposed to be haunted. Its bad luck if you dont hold your breath through it apparently, so the locals say. Lewes is a very small village with its most famous landmark being a prison where one of the crays were once held. There are plenty of antique shops around too. Just down the road on the Uckfield road are a couple of nice pubs. The stewards enquiry is a nice place to eat and is just up the road from the Bentley Car museum ... Read the complete review
