If you read the brilliant novel 'Angela´s Ashes' by Frank McCourt, it might be interesting to take part in a guided tour to the streets,squares and pubs where the novel took place. The worst slums however are removed by now. Enjoy a walk at the River Shannon and take a look at the castle.
