Advantages: Lovely atmosphere

Disadvantages: Very pricey

Malahide is a really lovely area on the outskirts of Dublin, it feels like a little village but is really handy to the centre. Loads of restaurants and cafes, lots of little boutique type shops and near to the beach if you fancy a stroll.
There is a large golf course nearby and there are often concerts in Malahide Castle.
One disadvantage is the prices, it is beautiful to walk around and there is plenty to see and do but it is extremely pricey. This is of course part of what adds to its charm, there are no discount stores or big low cost chains, the shops and restaurants are all unique and well suited to the area.
Restaurants I should point out are not much dearer than in other parts of Dublin, but I wouldn't come to Malahide if you are on a shopping trip and looking for bargains.
I think it would be a lovely area to live in but unfortunately is far beyond my price range!

Summary: Worth a visit
