I visit manchester about once every 2 months by train, there is a shuttle bus from the station but it is just as quick to walk in manchester from the station, Or you can get any local bus from the outskirts of manchester.
Manchester is becoming very popular among students and fashion houses, the arndale centre which was once wrecked, has now been completly rebuilt with lots of nice shops and cafe's.
One Landmark which stands out is the Beetham Tower which has many residential apartments and a hilton hotel which would be a great stay, you can also catch glimpses of the coronation street film set but that's higher up.
Manchester has great entertainment from Tiger Tiger Speed Dating in the print works, to the trendy bars along canal street.
If you are looking for music then the Manchester evening news arena and the Apollo has popular bands playing here.
One popular attraction is the Museum of Science and Industry.
If you come on a rainy day and don't want to shop in the rain then why not head on a 20 minute bus ride on the number 250 to the Trafford Centre, or even Manchester United Football ground and visit the souvenir shop.
Back to manchester, if you need to eat and sit down, then there is a large restaurant on the 2nd floor of the arndale, housing subway and burger king among others.
Manchester was also known for popular bands such as Oasis, and also the world famous Hacienda.
