Manchester the city of Life!
By Steven Hill
Before I start I think I should point out I do stay in Manchester and may be slightly unfair in this opinion.
Manchester is seen as a dirty old industrial city without much to promote, WRONG! I believe out of the main cities in Britain it ranks up there with Edinburgh, Dublin and Leeds as a nice place. It has amazing architecture lots of activity and an unparalleled transport system (in britain anyway). I mean the building work that is going on is disruptive but once complete will supply so much more activity to an already huge city. It is going to stage the commonwealth games and I think that it will be a credit to England which obviously has a pretty poor record in impressing on an international stage. The people in Manchester are from all over the world and do really add to the feel of the place as being the centre of Britain. To name just a few areas particularly impressive are Salford Quays, The Printworks, Exchange Square, Afflecks Palace and Heaton Park. I believe that if more people gave it a chance it might prove a surprise as a nice holiday destination, it should be promoted more to people as a cultural centre. I would recommend Manchester to anyone as it has so much to offer every type of person.
