Newnham on Severn is a small picturesque village in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.
The main street has lots of listed buildings and in the centre, there is a prominent clock tower.
At the highest point, there is a church and also at this point, you can see the horseshoe bend of the Riiver Severn. In 1881, the church was partially destroyed by a fire, but was rebuilt later in the same year and then reopened for worship.
There is a wide range of shops for the village, selling local crafts, antiques, books, porcelain, pottery, post offiice, village stores and a delicatessen.
The George Cafe is a small cafe, with brilliant food at reasonable cost. The Cafe has a small shop selling books and childrens toys. There is also an art gallery on the first floor.
Other eating places are, The Swan and the Railway Inn.
If you are traveling by a car, there are a couple of free car parks. The first one is at the bottom, where you can watch the River Severn and the other is near the George Cafe.
If you are traveling by public transport, there is an hourly bus service, number 73, from Gloucester Bus Station.
It is also one of the best places in Gloucestershire to see the famous Seven Bore.

Summary: A picturesque, peaceful and tranquil village

I used to love going here as a kid and watching the bore. Haven't been there (although go to the Forest alot) since I moved away.
