Newton Abbot (England) Reviews

Newest Review: ... it comes to hotels. There is a Best Western Hotel known as The Queens Hotel, there is also the Passage House Hotel and The Moorlands Hotel. These all have good reputations and offer a good standard of rooms and service. There are also a few little bed and breakfasts and guesthouses in the town that are of a good standard. Another option is to stay in privately owned holiday homes, there are a few of these in the town and also some in the surrounding area, these are ideal if you want to go self catering. There are also a few nice camp sites in this area which are perfect if you are looking for a cheap option. The town has plenty to offe... more

Newton Abbot is a market town located in the South West of England. The town sits on the river Teign and is in the county of Devon. There have been people living on this site for close to two thousand years, the town has a rich heritage and an interesting history. The town has a population of around twenty four thousand people, yet as this part of the country is very popular with tourists it can get a lot busier in the summer months. Newton Abbot is a small town set in a valley in South Devon. The shopping centre is based on a long street that runs from the train station into the centre of the town. There is then a pedestrianised area with a few roads going off and a market area. There is a lovely old-fashioned indoor market with lots of little market stalls selling bits and pieces. On different days of the week you get different stalls in the outdoor area just next to the market. Newton Abbot also has a number of lovely parks. The best by far is Decoy National Park that contains lots of woodland around a large lake in the centre. There is also a really fun children's playground with ... Read the complete review

Newton abbot in South Devon, close to Exeter and Torquay. It got its name from The Torre Abbey Abbots, the New Town of the Abbots, they held a market on a wednesday. The markets were very successful and the town thrived. There is still a market, having just undergone a recent renovation. Wednesdays are 'cattle market day'. The town is twinned with Besigheim in Germany and Ay-Champagne in France. History; The area goes back to Norman times where there were 2 settlements, one on the high ground (Highweek) and one on the low ground (Wolborough). Newton Abbot was well known for its wool trade, the 19th century Vicary's woolen ... Read the complete review
