Advantages: Great place to be

Disadvantages: Some areas have bad reputations

I have lived in Nottingham for all of my life in a large Village Keyworth. The Village itself is really good. The facilities of the area are really good. In Keyworth we have four small supermarkets, two chip shops, two Indian takeaways and a restaurant, a Chinese takeaway, pizza hut, butchers, flower shop, funeral service, Estate Agents, leisure centre, tennis, football, cricket and rugby clubs and much more. In a whole the facilities of Nottingham are really great.

Nottingham is filled with excellent villages like the one that I live in and there is always so much going on. Almost every village has good sports facilities and a good range of small shops. Housing in Nottingham is very good and of a very high standard. Most of the houses are very well built and have large gardens. Some areas of Nottingham have been given a bad name such as The Meadows. The Meadows is somewhere that you should never go to at night and should never go there by yourself. It is meant to be a really rough area with regular shootings and stabbings but nobody really knows what to believe. The houses in this area are mostly terraced and are fairly old and it is not really a particularly great place to live.

Nottingham is very well known for its Town Centre. It has been rated in the top 10 in England and it lives up to its reputation.
The shops there are absolutely brilliant. There is such a large range to choose from and you will never come back from town empty handed. It has too mayor shopping centres. Broad marsh is one of them and this is packed full of great shops, ranging from Soccer Sports to Boots and BHS. The other shopping centre is called Victoria Centre and this again is full of really good shops, but is not quite as popular as Broad marsh as it takes longer to walk to it.
In an around town you will find a lot to do. You will be amazed at the amount of Fast Food outlets. There are three McDonalds, two Burger Kings, one Wimpy's and many s
maller more expensive restaurants.
There is Ice Skating, cinemas and bowling which could keep you amused for a day or two.

I am sure that you have heard of Nottingham being called Robin Hood country. Well you would be right. This is one of the reasons for why Nottingham is so very popular. Everybody comes here just to be able to say that they have been to Robin Hood Country. It brings in a lot of tourists and also a lot of money to the town. Everybody wants to visit the town where Robin Hood once roamed in.

Nottingham also has two football teams. I was going to say two good football teams but changed my mind quickly when I actually thought about it. Nottingham Forest is by far the best out of the two. They are currently 7th in the First Division, which is very disappointing considering only about 6 years ago they came 3rd in the Premiership. They have had a lot of bad luck due to injuries and money problems and under the new management of David Platt are just about getting themselves back on track. They have an excellent youth team who contend with the likes of the Manchester United youth team, so Nottingham forest are a team for the future.

Notts County is the other football team. They were the first real football team created. They used to be in the First Division but then in two years slumped to an all time low when they got relegated into the third division. They soon bounced back and are currently just outside the play off positions in the second division. They are building up a very good squad now and are getting good crowds to their matches

Nottingham Forest is the most popular team out of the two as they are known more worldwide and have a large number of fans in France and Germany for some strange unknown reason. Nottingham Forest, previous winners of the Fa Cup and of Europe slumped to an all time biggest defeat two seasons ago when they lost to Manchester United 8-1 at the city ground
itself.

Nottingham also has a great Tennis Centre. It has some of the best facilities in the UK and holds the Notts open tennis tournament every year. It is very popular and has county squads there being coached by the finest professional coaches around. It has excellent outdoor and indoor courts and a very good gym.
Nottingham is also home to the Queens Medical centre. This is a very good and very large hospital again with very good facilities.
Most of the villages in Nottingham have very good bus routes that run on time and are generally very very reliable.

Nottingham is a very good place to live. It has countryside near by and also has a very good town centre. Housing is very good and residents friendly and welcoming.
The university of Nottingham is very good and there are lots of jobs about.
Schools in Nottingham are of a high standard with teachers being very good a well qualified. Schools get good results and are very clean, tidy and friendly.
I would say that Nottingham is the place to be. You will never be bored during the day and it also has a great nightlife with lots of pubs, restaurants and clubs.
So if you are thinking about coming to Nottingham, I suggest that you do.
