A great place for a day out (Paignton in General)

I used to visit Paignton every year as a child with my father as it was one of my favourite seasides - alongside dawlish, teignmouth, weymouth, torquay and exmouth.

That was over 30 years ago, and I still go back to visit quite regularly, and no it hasn't really changed much over the years. It still has its pier, nearly all the same shops up to the level crossing leading to the town centre, its zoo and steam railway.

30 years on, I still love the place. For those that enjoy nostalgic moments the steam railway is a must, and the zoo has certainly improved over the years with a new crocodile area recently installed - but some of the more usual animals you'd expect at a zoo are sadly missing. It is certainly worth spending 1/2 day at the zoo and despite being extremely hilly, now offers mobility scooters for disabled visitors.

Like the rest of Torbay, the only disadvantage is that its very expensive. However, it is an enjoyable place to visit and offers plenty to do including its very clean beach and is why I would recommend it to anyone.
