I was born and bred in Portadown and I have to say, it is a place that can drive you completly crazy... but it is also my favourite place in the world. I haven't lived there for some 10 years, I now live in London, but I do go back on a regular basis to see my Parents.
As I said, it will drive you crazy, it actually is the place where everybody knows your name (and your business and will tell everyone else) but there is something very homely about it which is very hard to explain, it has a very small town feel, and people will be nice and smile at you on the street, just for the sake of it, something that doesnt really happen in London.
Shopping is pretty good in this town, with 2 shopping centres and all the high street brands, it could be better and include a topman, but beggars cant be choosers, it is only 10 minutes by car from Rushmere Centre and 30 minutes from Belfast city Centre.
As for entertainment, there is nothing to write home about, the town has one decent pub, Bennetts, which always packed out, but to be honest, I feel a bit old going there at 27!
Still, love it or hate it, its home, and my favourite place in the world.... although, I wouldnt want to live there!
