      Very helpful

      Great trip, highly recommend!

Having recently returned from beautiful Ireland, I have decided to share another piece of Irish magic with you all.....

This time its the Ring of Kerry in the Southwest. I shall compile a list of how we got there and our activities whilst there and hope its useful to somebody as Its a must-visit area if in Ireland!

We travelled on Stena line from Holyhead to Dublin Port which took 3 hours approx. Upon our arrival at the port, we took the N& South from Dublin, taking us the 3 or so hours to Limerick, which is now bypassed(very handy). We had been told it was best to start in Killarney so we headed from Limerick to a little town called Castleisland and from there on to Killarney, which was all really well signposted.

By the time we got to Killarney we were both pretty beat so we stayed the night in a charming little guest house, Coffeys Loch Leine House in Fossa, Killarney. We had a beautiful room in a small guest house and a Lake view in the morning over the lakes of Killarney. After a hearty Irish breakfast we packed our car and headed along the N72, past Carrantoohil, Ireland's highest mountain and on to Kate Kearney's cottage in the Gap of Dunloe. This was a charming spot but we had not long eaten so decided not to stop!

We headed on for Killorglin and Glenbeigh, two charming little towns along the route, stopping along the way to take in the breath-taking scenery.

Once in Glenbeigh we checked into The Rossbeigh Beach Guest House and went exploring the area. The guesthouse itself was very reasonalbe, only a hanful of guests in its 10 or so rooms and beautiful beach views. We later visited a little Bog village, and had a stroll along the beach followed by dinner in a lovely little restaurant near our B&B.

The following morning, we left, heading for Sneem, as recommended by another couple in the guesthouse. Along the way we stopped in Caherciveen, where we visited the cathedral of Daniel O Connel. After this we stopped at Derrynane house which is also connected to Daniel O Connel and steeped in Irish history.
The roads in this part of Ireland can in places be no bigger than a bicycle track so much care is needed! We later checked into the Tahilla Cove country house in sneem and spent a well deserved evening relaxing!

From Sneem we headed for Kenmare, nearing the end of our trip.
Kenmare is a charming little town, with loads of interesting little shops and places to eat. We spent some time here souvenir shopping and had lunch in a seafood restaurant...the Lobster morney was to die for!

Later we headed back for Killarney, stopping at ladies view to take in the view over the vast Lakes and had a coffee outside the little gift shop. The drive from Ladies view to Killarney is testing to even an experienced driver but worth it as it takes you past Torc Waterfall. This was the last stop in our trip. The trek to the waterfall was lovelly as it was a sunny day and the waterfall and scenery were fantastic.

We then headed back to Killarney with a few days to spare before the end of our holiday. We spent another night in Killarney and visited Mucross House and Gardens, and Ross castle where we took a little boat ride.

We then continued to Tralee and Dingle(see my review for Dingle) which were also beautiful and after another few days made our way back to Dublin to catch our ferry home.

We had a fantastic trip and I feel that by changing guest houses etc every night we saw got a lot more from our holiday.

I plan to go back next year and do it all over again!
