Advantages: FUBAR!

Disadvantages: Shops, nightclubs.

I will not write a review based on the history of the town; I base my review purely on my experience of having lived here for 18 years of my life and trust me this is an experience I don't wish to repeat in a hurry.

The shops in the town centre were once average to poor. These days the highlight of the shopping experience is Primark (which actually is suprisingly big for a town of this size). There are few chain clothes stores and the independent stores are not the unique little boutiques you find in some towns. Instead they are bargain basement stores filled with much of the same junk and do not make for an enjoyable shopping experience.

I have begun to look back over my nights out in Rotherham quite fondly - I used to visit the same four or five bars every weekend(always FUBAR) without fail but rarely ended up in a club. There are a number of dance bars around the Westgate area but only a couple of bigger nightclubs - Liquid and Blue Bamboo. I would not rate either of these clubs as worth the entry fee (which I could not tell you exactly but I seem to remember it being rather extortionate).

The residential areas are varied - the quality of life in some areas is poor and I do not feel comfortable walking in such areas - the teenagers are very vocal in such parts! Some of the nicer areas (Whiston, Wickersley etc) are pleasant with larger houses and some green areas.

I have now moved to pastures new, and whilst I do have rare fond memories of the time I spent living here, I have no desire to return!

Summary: Not the most exciting place to live, but ok if you don't like to shop!
