Advantages: Rugby school
Disadvantages: nightlife, street crime, poor shops
Well what can i say about my sunny hometown of Rugby.
Not alot really, well what we are famous for is Mr William Webb Ellis who invented the game of rugby that day in 1823,(oh and we have just been told that he is not an historical figure, rugby observer sept 2008), then of course there is Rugby school and of course there is the beautiful rugby skyline dominated by the constant cloud of pollution pouring out of the fabulous cement works tower, and the best reason has got to be......yes the gladitor nightshade is from sunny rugby.....Woooohoooooo!!!!
Well i really would love to do a cracking review of rugby but the truth is i can't.......the shops are pants, the massively over advertised clock towers precinct is the one the smallest i have seen, there are small independent business' shutting down all over the place.....and no one dare sample the rugby town nightlife for fear of being, mugged, stabbed or beaten.
A bit harsh......no not really, knife crime is at an all time high, with the papers reporting of stabbings most weeks, one recently that was fatal, and there was a report of a shooting this week and a man beaten by a baseball bat by a gand 0f 6.
Now i aint stupid i know this is now a problem in most towns and cities across the uk, but for such a small town like rugby i would say the problem is bad.
I am looking to get out of rugby asap, so i certainly aint gonna recommend anyone move or visit here.
One thing i will say is there are nice parts of rugby like there is in every town, and there are a number of new developments on the horizon, like the new Asda that is currently being built in the town centre and the new proposal to make our tesco even bigger, and the work on the train station is near completion bringing it more up to date. And the cattle market has now gone and will be developed likewise with the nearby mill road on the other side of the train station.
But all this would not be enough to persude me to stay in rugby........and let me tell you i was born here and all my family live here and i used love the town i call home, but me like many of rugbys residents have become disillusioned and i just feel that at the moment that this will only get worse.
I really hope i am wrong and maybe one day when i am older i could move back to my hometown and enjoy my reitrement here, but for now i am getting out and getting out quick.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS MY OPINION AND MY OPINION ONLY AND MOST OF MY REVIEW IS NOT BASED ON FACT BUT MY OPINION AS A LIFE LONG RESIDENT OF RUGBY!!!
Summary: My beloved hometown which i no longer love is declining
