Advantages: Has a castle

Disadvantages: Bit rubbish

I am stunned that no one has written a review about the lovely Runcorn yet! I am proud to summise for any would-be tourists.
In short, I wouldn't bother visiting Runcorn unless you have some sort of affiliation with it, or you really like the television programmes '2 Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps' or 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' (or even Hollyoaks, some of that is sometimes filmed in Runcorn).
The shops are poor, save for TK Maxx (which sometimes has some gems) and Home Bargains (everyone loves this place, just face it). The entertainment is alright, with Cineworld being near to the shops and The Brindley now really making an effort to be somewhere where people in Runcorn who have an interest in all things art and culture (not many I wouldn't have thought) can go to. There are plenty of pubs and bars in the old town that are fit to burst at the weekends with 16 and 17 year olds. I would recommend jumping on the X1 and going to Liverpool for... everything you need really.
Runcorn's not particularly worth a visit unless you're affiliated with it or are a huge fan of 'Two Pints...', or even if you like castles, as Runcorn, strangely, has one of those!

Summary: Not really worth a visit unless you like BBC3 comedies.

Oh yes, it does have a lovely bridge. In crossing it you are, however, comitting to going over to Widnes. A can of worms that I definitely do not want to open up!
