The shankill is a place in northern ireland. It is a very loyalist area compared to the rest of belfast. It is a place not far from the city centre it is surrounded with council estates although some residents do own the property but mainly a council estate. It has one long road and it is called the shankill road and it is filled with shops and business from top to bottom. It has a few bookmakers and a lot of bars different bars are different territories from different parts of the road and linked with different parlamialtiers a bit like the catholic parts of belfast this is the norm in Belfast.
The road boasts a great big park called the woodvale park owned by the city council. It has plenty of history and murals of the bombs and killings that have been carried out in the shankill. A scary place if you are visting but now with the peace process it is quitened down a lot and you do get tour buses driving up and down the road it is very historic. It is home to the shankill butchers who also has a book out which is not about a local butcher it is true and again very intresting in history of belfast.
The shankill is a nice place if you are known and it is very famous part of the city aswell is falls road and the antrim road. The shankill is home to boxer wayne mucullogh and belfast has had a lot of great boxers because of the rough bringing up from kids to men. The shankill has everything on one road and is like a mini city centre. A great place to shop and get a bargain.
