Around Chelmsford there are plenty of things you can do for a great day trip! Just down the road is Danbury where there is the common which is great for walking or bike riding - even horse riding if you want to. Colchester Zoo is nearby about half an hour up the A12 as is fun for children and adults alike. If you drive on a bit further you come to Dedham where there is some beautiful countryside to walk around, a lovely river where you can hire a boat and row around (with ducks to pull along for children).
