Advantages: Quieter than manchester

Disadvantages: none

Stockport is a popular town and is one of the main stopping routes for the virgin train's London to Manchester highspeed network, such as London-Watford Juntion-Birmingham-Macclesfield-Stockport then Manchester.
There is a reason for this as stockport borough has approximatly 900,000 people living there.
Stockport became popular with hat making and there is even a hat making museum which is the only hat museum in the UK located on the A6 about a 10 minute walk from the train station.
There are lots of historical structures such as the Railway Viaduct to the old market place...There is also an air raid shelter tour which runs from Tuesday to Sunday.
There is an olympic sized swimming pool located opposite the train station along with a cinema and fast food restaurants.
If you want to go shopping then head from the train station down the hill follow the road to the main road at mc donalds turn left and walk down to the main bridge overlooking the bus depot which also has a great view of the viaduct, continue to the traffic lights and cross over this busy road. You will find Debenhams right in front of you and accross the way is an arndale style building which houses, argos, the card factory among many clothes shopes.
If you walk all the way to the end out into the open past the parade of shops you come to asda (15 minute walk) you come to another road and if you cross over here along the river you come to the peel centre which has a borders with cafe, pc world and many other electrical shops.
If it is parks you are after, well there is woodbank park which has wooded trails overlooking a waterfall and also a playground and running track...this is also home of the running group stockport harriers.

Summary: Nice buildings and shopping
