Dunmore East which is located in the sunny south east of Ireland (Well, it’s sunny during the summer anyway!!) is a very picturesque fishing village. It also happens to be the area I was raised in until the tender age of 12. So you can take it that my opinion will be slightly biased towards the better aspects of the beautiful place. Dunmore can be reached by taking the N25 out of Waterford City. Dunmore in Irish means ‘Big Fort' and indeed for those that are interested in history and the like, you can still visit the remains of one of these bif forts in the village. There are two fantastic beaches in the area, Lawlors strand and Councillors beach. Over the last decade or so the village has been modernized and it has lost some of it’s old cosy little village appeal. Other attractions in the area include the Adventure Centre at Stoney Cove, Golf Course, and several gourmet restaurants which serve freshly caught fish.
