Wandsworth in General
Advantages: nice area, lots of gardens, shops,
Disadvantages: expensive to live in, areas can be rough.
I went to Wandsworth when I was attending a drama school audition - the drama school that is located here is ALRA (academy live of recorded arts). I had a chance to look around the area before I went to the audition, personally, i think that Wandsworth is a nice area to live in located in South London, (my mum and dad lived there back in the 80s and they loved it!) It is located near Battersea power station and is quite near to other boroughs in London such as Clapham, Croydon, Kingston upon Thames, Richmond Upon Thames and Brixton. The nearest station is Clapham junction. However you can get tubes which are operated by the Waterloo line, and the London Victoria line.
Notable residents of Wandsworth include (either born or live in/have lived in Wandsworth): Ainsley Harriott, Keira Knightley, Sophie Dahl, Daniel Radcliffe, Holly Willoughby and Andy Murray.
Wandsworth is quite a Posh area of London and housing is quite expensive.
They have an excellent range of shops in Wandsworth and has it's own shopping centre named southside.
So you can enjoy fashion, food, film or whatever your tastes are.
Fashion stores include: Burton, primark, river island, republic, h+M, next, gap Dorothy Perkins and new look.
Food stores include: pizza hut, subway, mcdonald's, nando's, KFC and greggs.
fancy going to the pictures while shopping or just something to past the time then why not check out cineworld where you can watch any films that you may have an interest - check their web sites to find out what's on!
Southside opening hours are: Mon-Fri - 9:00am - 7:00pm
Sun - 11:00pm - 5:00pm
Wandsworth has all ranges of education from primary schools to universities - the nearest universities to Wandsworth are Roehampton university (which is about 3-5 miles) and Kingston university (which is seven miles from Wandsworth).
primary schools include: merton park, Riversdale, wimbledon park and Belleville.
secondary schools include: elliot secondary school, lady maragret, Henry coptom and hurlingham and chelsea.
further education includes: kings college, thames christian, eddie catz, and south thames college.
Even has a drama school!(as mentioned in the first paragraph)
Wandsworth is also good to big park where you can take your dogs for walks, there's a huge field loacted near ALRA (drama school)
Also it has a lot of gardens located around Wandsworth which are quite nice.
the disadvantages of being in wandsworth is that it may be a little boring for younger children, it's an expensive area to live in, but the area may seem 'rough' to live in and it's difficult to drive round the place.
Overall, even though I visited Wandsworth once, but actually I really liked it and if I had the money I would live there, (but that's if I came a millionaire or something) But it's not really that much to do if you have younger children. But if you like a quiet area of London, then this is probably the place for you. However, if you went to ALRA drama school housing is difficult to find in the area and you may have to travel a few miles.
From my parents point of view, the recommend the place to anyone and they really miss Wandsworth now!
Summary: have a quite city life in wandsworth
