In the middle of the Isle of Purbeck is a very old village which goes back hundreds of years. It has three first schols, two middle schools one secondary school. There are many shops as it is quite a tourist trap in the summer due to the very old 15th/16th century buildings. It is very picturesque with thatched houses and 8 old quaint inns. There are two supermarkets and several newsagents, chemists, pet shops, souvenier shops and restaurants. Parking is always a problem, there are many car-parks but they are always full in summer, especially on a Thursday when there is a small local market. That auctions fruit, veg and flowers for amazingly low prices. (Definately worth a look). It is always best to visit during the week as weekends are absolutely manic and the locals get very frustrated as they cannot move in the town. There is a summer carnival week, with fireworks, parades and evening entertainements, really good fun. Go and have a look!
