If you are like me and you are one of those obsessive people who like to look after their belongings so that they always look like you have just bought it then this is ideal. I hate things being scratched and when its connected to the computer you have to lay the ipod on the side and i always imagine that it falls on the floor or it will get dmaged, so i bought a mini dock. The dock is very sturdy and is not very expensive. It is nice and small and so it can sit on your desk without it being in the way. Furthermore as soon as the ipod is sloted into the dock the computer recognises it and it automatically loads itunes. This is great as it does exactly what it was made for. I also like to keep my ipod on the dock when its not in use as it looks better in the dock than just on the desk.
Having the IPOD nano is excellent, but when you are adding your songs and charging the little being, (if you are like me), you are a bit concerned about it getting scratched. Enter the IPOD Nano DOCK. Attatch the ipod connector to the dock, and then place the ipod into the cradle and your pc will notice it and start itunes. You can then add / change and charge your ipod from this dock. You can also plug in headphones or speakers into the headphone socket (3.5mm) in the back of the dock and play from there. The dock in one sure way of keeping your ipod scratch free when uploading and charging.
The optional FireWire and USB 2.0 dock makes charging and synching a simple, one-step operation. There's even an audio line out port for connecting to powered speakers or a home stereo.
