What are they?
These are silicon tubes, specifically designed for the iPod nano. The tubes allow you still to scroll with the dial and click but protect the actual iPod from scratches. Although these ones are only suitable for the iPod nano there are various different versions all suitable for the iPhone, or the iPod Classic.
What do they look like?
I personally can't stand them! I bought them to help protect my iPod, but in my opinion they look quite ugly when on it! They come in a variety of colours, but having bought a blue iPod any other colour looks weird as they are translucent which means the iPod colour slightly mixes with the cover colour - making a rather unattractive colour!
As I have said I don't like them, but I can see the appeal as it would protect your iPod from those everyday little scratches that after spending quite a lot of money on the iPod is worth it. A flaw I think is that the screen part was not covered and this for me would be the part most likely to be damaged!!!! However they are really cheap at just over £3 on amazon.
Personally would rather reccommend the 'socks' that are quite popular as these would protect the screen too yet don't make the iPod look unattractive!
If you like your ipod you will get one of these. As you paid quite a bit id guess you would want it to be protected. I bought one of these for my ipod nano and I've dropped it from amazing heights and yet it has survived to tell the tale. They come in various colours which will help you personalize your ipod to an even greater extent or hide the original colour if your not happy with it. It allows a band to strap the ipod to your arm for doing exercise which will come in handy when believe it or not your doing exercise. There are some varieties which protect the screen as well. They are easy to fit onto the ipod and to take off later on. They are cheap and reliable so why not? They do not prevent you from using the ipod to full extent ever so no worries there.
