When I purchased my iPod Nano 3G I wanted a case for it. I didn't want to pay alot of money for iPod and then have it all scratched and scuffed because it had no protection so I went off on an internet hunt for one having seen how much they were in the shop.
I came across the Belkin Formed Leather Case on Amazon.co.uk for the fairly cheap sum of £3.99 with free postage. It was purchased from one of the marketsellers.
This case is made for the iPod Nano 3G (4GB) and the iPod Nano 4G (8GB) only. None of the other generations of iPod Nano's will fit this so don't buy it if you do not own a 3rd generation Nano as you will just be wasting your money.
When it arrived, I was knocked back by the smell of leather. This is the real deal in terms of the material used. The smell of leather can be a little overpowering but seeing as I really like the smell of leather it didn't bother me. The case is made from black leather which has a matt like finish. It has white stitching which I thought was a nice touch.
The leather is nice and sturdy and is a structured kind of leather meaning that it will not lose its shape and your iPod should always fit in it perfectly no matter how much it is used.
The disappointment with this case was that there was no protective covering for the screen, despite the description saying that there was. I returned this one and had a replacement sent but there was still no clear piece of plastic to cover the screen. It sort of defeats the object of the case really as although the back of the iPod is protected the screen isn't and this is really prone to damage. If you do purchase this case, I would advise not to just leave you iPod in your handbag or rucksack as the screen will become damaged.
The back of the iPod is fully protected as are the sides and part of the front - the area which has no protection reminds me of a keyhole.
The wheel area is easy to access when you need to as there is no cover over this. Underneath the case there is an open piece in the leather to allow you to plug it in to charge it and to also allow you to plug your earphones in.
Surprisingly the case comes with a removeable clip so that if you chose to you can have your iPod clipped on to the waistband of your jeans or trousers. When I used this case I always went for this option as it was very convenient. The clip was made of hard plastic.
The case was made to a very high standard but was very disappointing in terms of having no protection for the screen. The case protected the back of my iPod from scuffs and scratches but I did feel when I was using this case that I was still worrying about damaging my screen. In the end, I changed it for a different case as I was just unhappy about it.
A nice case but not worth paying out for as there is no screen protection.
