This is a review on the Bose SoundDock Series 2 Digital Music System. I beleive that Bose does tend to make expensive products but you really can tell the difference. I bought this myself for the perfect IDock, this boasts an amazing sound and clear deep bass. For the size of this product you would be supprised when it booms clear and crisp sound throught the entire house. It also comes with a handy remote that is comptable with your iphone or ipod. You can also plug in any MP3 player with an Aux Lead that can be purchased between £1-5. The only downside to using a diffrent device other than an ipod would be that it doesnt charge while in use and also the remote control would not be of any use. This is a costly product but if you have the money it is a must have addition to any music systems you have in your home.
These speakers are expensive but definitely worth because of the superb sound quality and the fact that it works with the majority of iPods, rather than only the newer iPods or only the older iPods.
The volume range on the speakers is very good - it goes very loud for something so small. The bass is also good as it works without crackling. It is also possible to change both these settings, as well as others, using the remote which comes with the speakers. The remote is also great because you can basically control you whole iPod without having to get up or even touch it - the remote has the feature of changing artist, playlist or feature, rather than just being able to skip to the next song, play, pause, alter volume and go back a song.
These speakers aso look great and are small and reasonably slim but they are very heavy for what they are and are therefore unpractical. This means that they are difficult to bring on long journeys. It would also be better if you could charge the speakers up and use them without having to plug them in.
I was lucky enough to be given one of these as a present from work. Very easy to use - dock your ipod/iphone or itouch and within seconds you'll have a decent sounds blasting at you. I've been very impressed with the sound quality for such a small size. The bass is very strong and it has a good feel about it. Easily good enough for a room at a party or background music - it's not tinny at all.
No faffing, just plug and go.
Charges iphone 3gs (probably 4's but can't be 100% sure).
With a normal Hifi you would be able to tweak the sound settings slightly. You can't really do that with these types of speakers.
Is it on or off? I can never really tell if it's on or off. I think it goes in to standby automatically when left for a bit. But there is no power light or indicator to confirm that.
If i was chosing another ipod speaker (also have a gear 4, and a kensington - neither are as good as this) I would save up and go straight back and buy another one of these.
Yes this is very expensive as far as ipod speakers go and I was very reluctant in shelling out all that money. But I'm glad I did.
I'm no expert on such matters but quite simply the sound quality is absolutely superb. Ipod speakers tend not to be as good as hi-fi systems when it comes to sound quality but this is better than any I've owned before. Yes you can't make adjustments to the sound as you can with a hi-fi but you won't need to with this. The volume range is also very good and could easily fill most sized rooms.
I think you get what you pay for with ipod speakers. There are loads of much cheaper ones available but I've heard a few of them and the sound quality is average at best. Bose are a premium brand when it comes to music and that is what you pay for. And if you really want excellent sound rather than just OK and are prepared to pay for it then I would definetely recommend this.
It looks great too and is the perfect size for an ipod dock/speaker (it's also nice and light). It will of course recharge your ipod as well. I connect my iphone 4 with this but it is suitable for all ipods and other devices such as MP3 players with a connection at the back. It's also got a very good remote control.
My only slight gripe is when my iphone is docked it doesn't really fit that solidly in place. It doesn't fall out or anything it just sits a bit loose.
