Perfect iPod music fix if your car does not have an auxillary input connection

The Dension ice-link is the perfect solution for people who want to listen to their iPods in their car but do not have an auxiliary in option built into their cd/radio unit.

The iPod sits in a sturdy cradle that is fitted to your dashboard via a special bracket. Be aware that the bracket has to be purchased separately and is also vehicle model specific so take care when sourcing this.

They are easy to find on the internet and a search using the following term: Dension ice link brackets, produces plenty of options.

Unless you are technically minded the kit should be fitted by a trained in-car entertainment technician as it hard-wired into the head unit of your car system.

Being connected to the head unit means the reception when listening to music is perfect and does not suffer any of the interference you get from the cheaper FM Transmitters.

The kit is tuned to an available FM frequency and stored as an option on one of the radio's preset buttons (usually option 6).

So once fitted you put your iPod in the cradle, turn your unit on and select radio and FM, select the preset option button that has been set (usually 6), scroll to your iPod playlist or track and press play. It's that simple.

The kit also allows different levels of control and functionality via your steering wheel audio controls depending on what kind of car you drive. In its most basic form you are able to turn the volume up and down via the steering wheel controls but have to select songs using the scroll wheel.

But some cars systems will allow track selection, volume control and even show track details in the dashboard display. Again, it's worth checking with your fitter as to the level of steering wheel control you can expect.

And one final benefit of this option is that your iPod automatically charges while it is in the cradle.
