My other half and myself both own our own iPods. She dropped hers recently on the driveway and the screen got badly scratched and the screen cracked right across the face. We managed to sell it on Ebay for parts and got a good price and then used that money to replace it with a new one. The reason it got so badly damaged was firstly it landed on a tarmc drive, face down, and secondly it had no protection on it at all to absorb the impact of the fall. Mine also had no cover at the time, but then I'm not as clumsy as she is.
For this reason we both decided to buy ourselves a Gear4 StreetWear Small Pouch MP3 protective cover. They cost us £5.99 each and we bought them for a BUY IT NOW from Ebay. I got a grey one for myself and my other half chose the more feminine looking light pink colour with flower design on the front - mine has a design more like off whitefeathery swirls, which I prefer, personally.
As far as we are both concerned these Gear4 StreetWear Small Pouch MP3 protective covers have been really good value for money. We particularly like them as they are cleverly designed to resemble 'hoodies' - ie those things that young people tend to wear occasionally. I'm not a hoodie wearer myself, but the design appealed to me personally, as I thought it looked quite clever and eye catching and it's a bit of a talking point amongst friends and colleagues.
The pouch is lightweight at only 18g and it is designed to be a good fit for the new model iPod. I am unsure as to what the material is that it is constructed with, but I can only describe it as beinglightweight and rather flexible and stretchy. I think there may be some lycra in there somewhere but I have to say, personally speaking, it is an excellent fit and covers the iPod where it should and it personally gives me great confidence knowing that if I DO drop it, it would be adequetly protected.
We have washed our little pouches and they have dried quickly on the radiator - we have only washed them out over the sink, by hand and have not placed them into a washer cycle so I am unsure how they would come out looking if anyone attempted this. They did not shrink or grow once washed and still remain a good snug fit for our iPods.
What I really like about these covers is that they do look remarkably like actual hoodies and the manufactuers have done really well in establishing a very good likeness. It just looks exactly like a hoodie for a very tiny person. I particularly like the drawstring hood and also there is a little velcro pocket where I am able to store my earphones when I am not using them - brilliant!
On the reverse of the pouch there is also a very handy little hook on which we hang our keyrings, so everything is safely held together, giving me personaly speaking, good peace of mind.
I can definitely recommend the Gear4 StreetWear Small Pouch MP3 puch to anyone who is seeking a form of protection for their iPod. It might appear a bit gimmicky but I think it's a brilliant looking cover and it's stayed looking good as new now for ages.
