Hama Aluminium CD Case 200
Advantages: Can store lots of CD's in one place, transportable.
Disadvantages: None for me.
A lot of my music collection is still on CD's and as we all know that can take up a lot of shelf space, so a few years ago I was looking for a simpler way of storing and transporting my CD collection when I came across this Hama Aluminium CD Case. It can hold up to 200 CDs. I can't remember how much I paid for it but they are still available on ebay.co.uk for around £20. I can't imagine that I would have paid more than that for it.
The case measures width 31cm x height 19cm x depth 20cm and is made of ridged aluminium and is silver in colour, all the edges and corners have an extra layer of aluminium over them offering extra protection from bumps and bangs. The base of the case has four rubber feet that stop it from scratching hard surfaces. I have had my case for a good couple of years and apart from a bit of dust it still looks like new.
There is a sturdy carrying handle on the top and a lockable catch; I lost the keys to my case years ago, but I would think it would be relatively easy to open with a hair grip if you found yourself locked out of your CD collection.
The inside of the case is lined with black velvety material and again this has worn well and still looks like new. The case is separated into two halves by a strip of metal; it is from this metal runner and one on either side of the case that the CD sleeves hang from.
There are 50 sleeves on each side of the case; each sleeve is capable of holding two CD's or one CD and its accompanying booklet. I choose to use my case to the max and have two CD's in each sleeve.
The case comes with an index card, which I don't use as I have written on the labels that are in the top of each sleeve. The labels on the CD sleeves are consecutively numbered and match up to the index card.
The sleeves are not the best quality, but I have never had one split or tear on me, so they must be good enough for day to day use.
When full the CD's are quite snug, but there is still enough room to easily search through them all.
In my opinion this is a good quality case for storing CD's or DVD's if you prefer, instead of having shelves and shelves of music that needs dusting each week I have all my music collection safely stored in one place and only need to dust the case every now and again.
Searching through my music collection is relatively simple as I am not one for looking through the booklets or admiring the cases, the CD's are easy to slide in and out of the sleeves and have never suffered any scratches when being removed from or inserted in to the sleeves.
In fact I thoroughly recommend this case for safely storing your music collection, with its handle and lockable catch it makes carrying your music around with you relatively easy.
Thank you for reading.
