This case holds 12 disks in thin plastic slip in pockets, each pocket holding two disks back to back. There are no additional internal pockets and in my view that is poor design as this holds so few disks as to be not useful for some, Hama could easily have fitted pockets to both the front and back of the case to hold at least four more. The low capacity is adequate for my needs as I use the case to hold CD copies of my photographs, but in the days when my husband would carry a collection of CDs and DVDs this would not have been enough storage space. Currently Hama wallets hold an average of 32 disks so using this as a marker you can see how few this one purchased in 2011 holds.
In my view the spine of the wallet is thick enough to accommodate at least a further six pockets, thereby doubling the capacity of storage and this one is no thinner in overall design to a more updated Hama wallet that hold more disks.
The disks slide easily into their pockets but are not kept fully covered because of the circular shaping of the pockets. I would prefer them to be a square pocket that will protect the disks in their entirety as in my view the portion of uncovered disk is much larger than I would expect for optimum protection. The thin material of the pockets is stronger than it looks and there has been no damage of any kind to the pockets in my wallet.
The rigid and padded cover offers a good level of protection for your disks, the use of this would be to keep special disks safe at home as I use mine or to transport disks without their covers. This could be in the glove box of the car, in a suitcase or travelling bag or even sent through the post if you share media with friends or family who do not live locally to you. I have done this when my daughter was visiting my mother for a week in a school holiday, my family live a long way away and she forgot her Barbie DVDs so I posted them in this case as it was easier than driving there. She was very excited about this but now many of our films and programmes are available digitally I do not think I will ever be required to do this again.
I have been happy with this storage wallet for the disks containing our family photographs and would repurchase another Hama wallet should a need arise for me to own another.
