I'm a music Technology student and guitarist and I wanted a recording interface so that I could record bits and pieces of guitar for coursework. Money isn't something I'm full of so a line 6 pod looked like the perfect option for me. It is a great looking product and its only small so its easy to store or carry around in your guitar or laptop bag.

I found installation extremely difficult. I ended up having to go back to the shop where I purchased it where they told me that I needed to go searching online for the update for the software they had given me. That did solve the problem which was that it just crashed my computer when I plugged it in. I still think that Line 6 should have had a way to prevent this problem in the beginning.

Actually getting it to work can be a pain, too. You need to make sure you update the software before you use it and go through all the audio settings on your computer and the recording software settings. Its a huge pain.

The guitar tones provided are all great and you can make your own from a range of amps, effects and more. You can buy more online. However, for me, I've found that theres enough there for me and they're all really good quality. When recording, the tones make your playing sound really professional which really tempts me to use it over real recordings.

The other thing I feel I need to include is that if you are a technology nut and feel like you're going to get bored of this or just want the addition of being able to plug in a microphone, I highly recommend the UX2 from the same line of products. However, guitarists who write a lot of riffs, this is more up your street.

I have found that despite the problems, I really like this line 6 pod, I feel like the sound quality is great for the price.
