... I have come to expect from the countless HD camcorders I have come to own over the years the build quality is superb. Very ergonomic and easy to use, although the touch screen LCD may take some getting used to for someone who hasn't used sony touch screens before.
Another great feature is the option to switch between 16:9 and 4:3 as although no HD tvs are 4:3 it can add great effect if you are making a movie.

Canon MD101 ... and very easy to use. The features are easy to find and easy to use. I am still learning different features but certainly shooting a video, incorporating fades and transitions and playing the movie back is very straight forward and stress-free. Battery life The battery life was slightly disappointing and my main grumble would be that I cannot use rechargeable batteries as can with a digital camera. The camcorder takes about 4-6 hours to charge and lasts about 1-2 hours, not nearly as long as I was expecting. Zoom I was amazed at the quality of zoom (30x) on this camera and was gob smacked to see that the zoom is almost as good if not on a par with my dad's binoculars... Canon MV 930 ... is a little sliding switch that controls the optical 25x zoom. This operates smoothly and quietly. There are two modes - easy and hard. Ive never used hard because it sounded too hard. it probably isnt - Im just a divvy. Easy does me fine. There are a number of shooting modes, namely Spotlight, portrait mode, night mode, fireworks, sports mode, sunset, beach and snow but Ive never bothered. And never will. There are also a good few special effect and fades but again they are not necessary for sneaky shower shots. To review my masterpiece I just flick a switch to "play" and control it as said, viewing either through the eyepiece or on the flip-out screen. The ... Sony HVR-Z1E ... has been using them for the past year. It is easy to use, light, sturdy, and reacts better to light than its Panasonic competitor. You will have iris and shutter speed functions, gain, automatic and manual focus, two audio channels, a built in microphone for basic sound demands, and a powerful zoom. It works with mini-dv and dvcam tapes, but I would suggest using the Sony HD brand which is suggested by Sony. This camera may be a bit confusing for those who do not have much experience, but once one reads the manual, its functions are quite straightforward.
