Panasonic NV-GS70 ... I decided to buy my first camcorder I had already done an extensive research for the previous 5 years! I am young director myself and all the cameras my friends and family had just didn t do it for me. Either their picture quality wasn t good enough or the size was too big or they simply looked ugly and oversized for what they could do. Panasonic NV-DS38 ... old video camera before it was stolen by pikeys. This machine excelled at everything. Picture quality is loads better than my new Sony. Also the IR night vision works better too. Had this for about 4 years with no problems at all. Battery life with the supplied battery is about 30 mins. Larger capacity batteries are availabe that ll give about an hour. Good old fashioned forward and reverse buttons or playback. In fact all the switches and buttons seem very sturdy and well made. There are loads of fun settings in the menu..my kids loved the mirror setting which doubles the image up and makes people look as though they some sort of monster. Motion sensor was goo... Sony Handycam DCR-HC51E ... was in the market for a replacement video camera after some pikey smashed a window in my car to get my old one. I needed one with IR night vision like my old Panasonic had, as we had recently seen a ghost in an old cottage whilst using night vision! (yes i did have on tape but it was in the stolen camera) Now I would have had a Panasonic again because Which have always rated them higher than other makes of video camera they review..mainly for image quality but Panasonic no longer do a camera with proper full IR night vision..so I decided to go Sony.
