Panasonic NV-GS300 ... was my first camcorder and I was not disappointed. When i got it it was one of the more expensive amateur models (£450). I have now owned it for over two years, and I have saved some great memories thanks to this device. The best thing about it is its picture quality and stability - it has optical image stabilisation technology which means that tiny motorised gyros within the device are constantly buzzing and counteracting any shaky hands - it is a godsend without which footage would look like it had been shot from the back of a lorry whilst jumping on a pogo stick! Sony Handycam DCR SR75 ... purchased one of these beauties for use at work, since then itr has found it s way home and gets used for all sorts. I was unsure of whether to go for a hard drive camcorder or stick to tapes but I found this available for a shade under £260 and decided to go for it. I think it was a great choice, this camera is so user friendly. The manual that comes with it is comprehensive and has always answered any little issues I have found. Battery life is about 90 mins of recording time which I think is pretty decent. The camera comes packed with loads of fantastic features, however be warned if you plan to take a lot of video or upload to you computer you goto have to spend a lot of extra cash.
