Samsung VP-DC171W ... both dual-layer DVDs and RW discs, you can record directly to disk thus reducing the risk of data loss, there will be lots of storage space and it is convenient; just slip the DVD into your computer or DVD to watch It has a powerful 34x optical zoom so you can focus on distant objects and still maintain its high quality. Remember that digital zoom will reduce the quality of your shot so if you know you will film distant objects high optical zoom is the way to go. It is compact, light and portable. It is 800,000 pixels providing a very good image. Excellent with well lit areas but not great image quality in poorly lit areas. Unfortunately battery life is short ... Hitachi DZ-BX35E ... am not particularly good with techie things, but I found my camcorder pretty easy to use straight away. Have been using this for a couple of years now and have yet to try and load any of my dvds onto the computer (they are small ones!) but its on my list of things to do. Its easy to play the disks back on the TV though and all the cables required are already in the box. The battery life is good although as this is the first camcorder I have owned I have nothing to compare this with. It is really easy to use with no fussy setting up required, just one button record and off you go. The screen is really clear and you can turn it all the way round so that you can do so... Canon DC 310 ... must admit when I first got this camcorder I didn t know where anything was or how to use it properly and took me a few days to get up to scratch. This camcorder is able to record DVD-R discs and can also rewrite DVD s too meaning you can record over old videos you may have on old discs as long as the discs themselves are RW (re-writeable) too. The camera has a 41 times zoom which means you can zoom in on objects further. I have used this function to zoom in and use photo mode to take pictures without the need of a digital camera.
