Sony Handycam DCR-TRV120 ... cheesy effects such as sepia tone which gives your footage that authentic victorian camcorder look. It's got too many functions actually - I hate those cheesy built in effects. This camera uses the Digital8 system which is unique to Sony. It records digital information the same as the more expensive miniDV cameras but it uses Hi-8 tapes which are cheaper and more easily available than miniDV format. The TRV120 gives a clear picture in daylight but gets a bit grainier in the dark. I don't know if that's par for the course with digital camcorders but it's in no way a serious matter. Sony Handycam DCR-TRV310E ... sony have done it again with the dcr-trv320e,a general description of this camcorder is its a standard video-s shape unit with a 2.5 inch colour lcd screen and a black and white viewfinder with a 100 % digital zoom. The lux value of this camcorder is a super night shot 0 lux that means it can see in the dark good for wildlife night shots,this is also adjustable in video mode to super nightshot mode so more can bee seen in total darkness. The lens is a 25 % optical zoom f=3.7-92.5mm 1:1.6 with a precision ccd super L circuitry (thats what it says in the lens). Sony Handycam DCR-TRV820 ... This camera. There are many advantages and disadvantages about this camera. I think the advantages deffinatly out way the disadvantages though. For a start the camera is big, a lot of people don`t like big cameras considering all the new digital camcorders are extremely small, but very expensive. The 820 has many advantages over the 320 and the 520, and the price difference isn`t much. For a start the 820 has a 4 inch viewscreen, it has a built in printer, which i suppose is a good thing but its not that good quality. The camera has a 25x optical and a 450x digital zoom.
