JVC GR-D820EK ... my Sony MiniDV camcorder suddenly gave up the ghost I needed a replacement quickly. Although I have a personal preference for Sony products, the price of this JVC MiniDV camcorder couldn t be ignored, so I bought it and have been using it quite happily for a few months now. The surprising thing about this JVC compared to a similar Sony model is that not only is it cheaper, it also boasts better features. Two of the most important features to look for when selecting a camcorder is the optical zoom (not digital because it reduces the quality a lot), and also the quality of the LCD screen. Sony HVR-Z1 ... is certainly not a camera just for someone who wants to take the occaisional holiday video. However, with thiis you can take really good quality proffessional video. The camera is much bigger and bulkier than a handicam, and also has a much larger price tag, but in return you get better controls and far better video quality. On this camera manual focus, iris white balance and gain are all easy to control giving you the best possible picture quality, whilst there are auto settings if they are needed! the camera records onto mini dv tape. this is good, because unless you have a really expensive camera recording to tape is far better as it doesnt compress the footage...
