The DC100 offers convenient recording straight to DVD (-R/-RW), shooting eye-catching video and great looking digital photos is easy - simply transfer the finalized disc to your home player. The DC100 is ready to record high-resolution true widescreen 16: 9 movies. It features a color viewfinder and a wide 2.7" LCD screen, allowing video footage to be monitored exactly as it will appear on a widescreen TV set. The LCD includes a level marker to help center the horizon. Switching between 16: 9 widescreen and 4: 3 shooting modes is easy and done at the push of a single button. A powerful, precision-engineered 25x optical zoom delivers great looking footage. While Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) eliminates unwanted vibration, a range of different zoom speeds is available for greater control. Thanks to Canon's DIGIC DV processor, separate signal paths are provided for video and stills, ensuring that colors are optimized and remain vivid and vibrant for each. In a smooth and rounded body, the compact DC100 is perfectly portable. The DC100's lens is always protected thanks to a convenient sliding lens cover incorporated into the camcorder's body. |

Rating:
I have always wanted a camcorder. Recently I have been very keen to purchase a DVD camcorder because the idea of recording direct onto DVD then playing it in a DVD player was amazing. It would be very expensive however to go with this option and I have been put off by the £300 - £500 for a decent camera price. The other reason I wanted a camcorder was because my digital camera although including a movie mode did not play continuous clips, by that I mean I film a shot, turn the camera off and need to film another shot they are not continuous. I have been hinting at various people for a camcorder but never really expected it due to the price. I was therefore very lucky ...

it looking at areas of my body language - speech and display that could be tweaked and improved. Being desperate I took him up on the challenge and borrowed his Canon MV 960 - I understand that when he bought it the retail price was £365 but when I finally came to purchasing my own after being dazzled I found it much cheaper at £265 from the Pixmania website. Although I didn t do the filming on the first occasion - obviously I have now had the opportunity to take the camcorder on holiday with me - to family weddings and birthday celebrations and each time I found that the range of features has been out of this world although at first it is very fiddly to get to grips ...
Canon MV600i

Rating:
This is the first camera I have had the wherewithal to buy, whilst I had been searching a little higher in the Canon range I decided on a safety first item. This camera in all the reviews seemed like a nice cheap but effective utility to practice on before stepping up to the semi-professional market. As a film student I use larger and far more expensive professional equipment, where the lens is worth considerably more than the entire cost of my little MV 600i. Playing around with cameras at the top end of the market has shown me what kind of image can be captured and its similarity to broadcast quality film. When buying this camera I had a few small demands; firstly ...
