For their design of the MV830i, Canon's engineers held true to the maxim that a technology is only worth having when it is both simple and useful. It has resulted in a camcorder that is rich in features yet delightfully simple to use. Everything is done to make shooting great video as easy as possible. Within seconds of turning on your new camcorder you can capture quality footage. Just flick the 'Easy' switch and you are able to shoot in fully automatic mode. The controls are carefully positioned to give you fingertip access to all the key functions. Menu navigation is intuitive, straightforward and available in 8 languages. The MV830i's high-resolution 16: 9 mode is great for shooting cinemascope video and for playing back on widescreen monitors. At the push of a button, the camcorder automatically switches the LCD to Letterbox and uses the full width of the CCD sensor to capture true widescreen footage. The camcorder's compact body is just 5cm wide and fits snugly in your palm. Despite this small size, it features a generous 2.4" color LCD screen, which lets you monitor footage in detail as you shoot. No matter where you are or in what lighting conditions, you need never miss out on getting great shots. The MV830i has a powerful 20x optical zoom whose exceptional contrast and clarity take you to the heart of the action. A razor sharp 1/6" CCD delivers high fidelity images even at the strongest magnifications. Canon's unique DiGIC DV processor translates what the camcorder 'sees' into warm, subtle tones that appear natural and vibrant. Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) keeps your footage steady and makes hand held shooting rock-solid. A mechanical shutter ensures blur-free stills that are fit to be printed as quality photos. You won't even need a PC to create your prints. Simply connect to any PictBridge compatible printer and select the images you want to produce. PC connectivity is fully supported. Use the DV in/out connecter to upload and download your digital movies and digitize videotape with the built-in converter. JPEGs and up to 60 minutes of Motion JPEG are stored direct on MMC or SD memory cards for upload via USB. |

looking at areas of my body language - speech and display that could be tweaked and improved. Being desperate I took him up on the challenge and borrowed his Canon MV 960 - I understand that when he bought it the retail price was £365 but when I finally came to purchasing my own after being dazzled I found it much cheaper at £265 from the Pixmania website. Although I didn t do the filming on the first occasion - obviously I have now had the opportunity to take the camcorder on holiday with me - to family weddings and birthday celebrations and each time I found that the range of features has been out of this world although at first it is very fiddly to get to grips with ...

Rating:
The Canon MV650i is part of the MV600 range. It s the top model and is packed with loads of features. It s recording methood is Mini DV which produce fantastic quality film. The camera itself is very small and compact and very lightweight. It s silver in colour with light up buttons which you have a choice of colours to pick from to personalise it. The camera has a crystal clear 2.5" LCD screen to view or a moveable viewfinder. The Microphone is based at the front end of the camera and tapes are loaded via the bottom. One bad point about being bottom loading. The camera has numerous features. It boosts a 22x optical zoom plus 440 digital zoom. The 22x optical ...

semi-professional market. As a film student I use larger and far more expensive professional equipment, where the lens is worth considerably more than the entire cost of my little MV 600i. Playing around with cameras at the top end of the market has shown me what kind of image can be captured and its similarity to broadcast quality film. When buying this camera I had a few small demands; firstly it had to be mini DV not just a digital card, the quality of image and sound is far higher, secondly it had to be upgradeable, all cameras in this price range have a very low quality of zoom/width, they usually have poor microphones and little or no lighting. The MV 600i has ...
