Whether it is a big event, or a small yet special occasion, you need a camcorder to remember the atmosphere - the sounds and the movement. But for those evocative photos capturing the detail of a moment, you need a stills camera. Enter the MVX25i: the best of both formats. This 2.2 Megapixel digital powerhouse is both a superb quality camcorder and a fully featured digital still camera, with a host of advanced features normally reserved for single-purpose devices.

With 2.2 Megapixels, the MVX25i has more than enough capacity to generate high clarity video footage. The sensor also paves the way for digital stills, which can be printed up to 15x21cm at photo quality. A DIGIC DV processor combines all key processing and memory requirements onto a single chip. Two discrete processing paths allow for the separation of algorithms required to optimize video and stills quality during simultaneous video/still capture. An RGB primary color filter farewells the need for image-degrading signal conversion, delivering truer, more natural colors.

Image Stabilization is built in to keep the action steady without a tripod. A 'Super Night Mode' built-in LED light lets you continue recording in zero light conditions. A flash provides digital stills shooting to a distance of up to 2m. To allow auto-focusing on non-centered subjects, the frame is split into three individually selectable auto-focus regions. A manual Focus Ring further expands creative control. Motion-JPEG files record direct to either SD or MMC memory cards for easy Internet sharing. Depending on memory card capacity, up to 60 minutes of either QVGA or QQVGA formats can be recorded straight to card or copied to card from DV tape. Both DV and USB terminals are featured, allowing for high quality dubbing, connection to a PC's IEEE1394 port for editing and retouching, direct printing and easy high-speed file transfer of still images and video files from the camcorder's memory card.
