The perfect introduction to versatile digital video, the GR-DVL108 combines the high-quality digital video of the MiniDV format with a built-in digital still camera with removable flash memory. Literally two cameras in one, the GR-DVL108 gives you the best of both worlds. In video mode, you can take advantage of the higher image resolution and color quality of the MiniDV format; in DSC mode, you can shoot VGA-quality digital still photographs. This camera also offers extended multimedia connectivity through on-board ports that allow direct connection with a PC for still image transfer using the provided software.
A true still camera that lets you shoot VGA-sized digital still images which are stored on the postage stamp-sized MultiMediaCard, the GR-DVL108's DSC function operates independently of the video section. The removable MultiMediaCard lets you easily download still images from the camera to a PC. When the camera is connected to a PC via a serial cable, you transfer data stored on the MultiMediaCard directly to your PC without even removing the card. The GR-DVL108 MiniDV camera houses a high-performance 800, 000-pixel CCD image sensor to capture high-quality video footage and still images. The CCD complements the high horizontal resolution (over 400 lines) and superior color reproduction of the MiniDV format, ensuring that your favorite scenes and faces are recorded with superb clarity. The GR-DVL108 comes with three powerful software applications - JLIP Video Capture, JLIP Video Producer, and PictureNavigator - that make it possible to jump-start multimedia creativity from day one. A high-power 10x optical zoom lets you zoom in close when shooting. To get even closer a 100x digital zoom, with spline interpolation to smooth contours, enables users to pick out a face in the crowd. Another handy feature when zooming in for a portrait is a digital image stabilizer that helps to eliminate camera shake without affecting image quality. The GR-DVL108's 2.5" LCD monitor makes it easy to frame shots when shooting, and for reviewing footage after recording. A built-in Auto Light switches on automatically to illuminate scenes, allowing you to capture a natural range of colors even when the light is low.
