JVC GR-DVL157 ... unique Digital NightScope function for dark scene shooting. Adding special effects and scene transitions is easy during both recording and playback using the included multi-brand remote control. And if you're ready to explore the exciting world of multimedia, on-board ports are provided for direct connection with a PC.

The Super High-Band Processor intelligently calculates and restores the high-band components of the luminance signal that would be lost in conventional processing. This ensures extremely high horizontal resolution. With enhanced low-light sensitivity, JVC's exclusive Digital NightScope function allows you to capture clear, bright images at night without loss of color associated with other night-shooting systems. Without relying on infrared rays as do similar systems, Digital NightScope uses the camera's normal optical system. As a result, the image you shoot is always in color, and there's no limit on shooting range. The GR-DVL157 is provided with a DV terminal for fast, lossless digital transfer to a computer, as well as for dubbing to another DV unit in native DV format.

accompanying manual was fairly user friendly for the novice. This instruction booklet is A5 size , only in English and 56 pages long . It refers to model numbers GR -D93 , GR-D73 , GR-D53 and GR-D23 . There are 5 pages of troubleshooting at the back . This camera is absoulte superb. As it should be, it comes in at a low price and it's got all of the standard benefits of a Digital Camcorder :- . Stereo Audio . Multiple audio bit-depths . Ok, so mine isn't actually a 160, it's a 100 series, but on the basis that no-one else has reviewed any of the JVC mini DV camcorders yet, I thought I might as well share my views! I bought my DVL100 from Jessops 2 years ago - it was an ex-shop-display model, and as such was a snip at £399. It has a 10x optical zoom, and 100x digital zoom, has a 1394 i-link DV adapter, and a whole host of audio/visual connectors. It also has a side colour LCD screen for easy filming away from the eye, but you can also use the black & white view piece to save on battery life.
