The Miniature is equipped with a 1/3.8" 1.02 Megapixel Wide CCD image sensor which, together with the high-resolution performance of the MiniDV format and the super high-band processor, is able to deliver 530 lines of horizontal resolution. In addition to high-density picture information obtained by a megapixel CCD, to ensure that the image is as sharp and crisp as possible, the super high-band processor intelligently calculates and restores the high-band components of the luminance signal that would be lost in conventional processing. With the Miniature, JVC shows how a video camera can actually have global reach. Equipped with a Web Camera function, it lets the user hook-up the video camera to a PC via USB to send real-time images and sound over the Internet. Teleconferencing, Webcasting, and videophone-like applications therefore become possible with the appropriate software. The MPEG-4 Video Clips For Email function allows users to instantly create multi-platform compatible video clips that can be viewed on most computer systems. Clips can be made from existing video footage or directly from the real-time camera image. As the most advanced MPEG standard, MPEG-4's higher compression rate and small file size make it an ideal format for motion picture distribution even on networks with narrow bandwidth - making it the perfect solution for video email. JVC has also made it easier for users to spice up their videos with a variety of MP3 Digital Sound Effects. Available on the provided SD Memory Card, these sound effects can be inserted into a recording at any time - either during shooting or afterwards during editing. Among the effects provided are: Applause, Cheering, Laughter, Explosion, Buzzer, Siren, and Fanfare.
