This digital camcorder is a compact lightweight and easy to use piece of equipment. At first glance it might look a bit daunting, but don't be put off as it is very user friendly. A pull out colour LCD screen (which also rotates 360) makes for easier filming rather than the standard view finder found on all camcorders, though you can use either. Filming can be done in two modes....auto for the complete novice, literally just point and shoot or manual where you can play around with all the settings, manual focus, white balance, shutter speed and lots more. A good feature of the camcorder is the back up light. This function can be used in areas of bad lighting and can be accessed by a single press of a button for instant picture improvement. Other features include the ability to take still photographs as well as video, there are different modes to take the stills, frame for example puts a frame around the photo you have just taken. Included in the price is the usual battery and battery charging unit, carrying case and leads for connecting the camcorder to your TV or PC, editing software is also supplied for the PC. The only real downside of the camera is the battery life, when using the LCD screen the battery soon runs down (we've found by experience it lasts about 50-60 mins). You can connect the camcorder to the mains though this obviously restricts your filming. People with big hands might also experience problems when filming as some of the buttons are quite small. The users manual could have been better, in some instances you have to skip pages until you get what you are looking for and then go back to the original page. Apart from the battery life and users manual, the camcorder does a first class job with excellent playback quality on the LCD screen.
