work it out myself. I did it in the end but there are certain features I still have no clue how to use. I have never had anything made by JVC before and wonder if the instructions are the same for all their products - overly complicated. Once you get started its pretty much point and shoot (and zoom if you want). There is a screen to see what your videoing and for quick playback. This is pretty good quality and large enough to see what s happening. When you playback on TV the sound quality isn t quite as good as I expected but then I suppose it isn t a particularly expensive piece of kit. I was lucky enough to be given this great camcorder for Christmas last year and I have used it several times to record holidays, family Barbecues and just rambling about my local area. The device is very comfortable to use, it is a nice weight and the provided hand strap feels really secure. I really loved the fold out screen, it has great image quality even if bright sunlight and makes framing your subject matter really easy. The menu system is simply fabulous too! We bought this camcorder approximately 5 years ago. We had recently just had our first child, and we were looking at an easy way to record those informal family moments. I was looking for something that was simple to use and I could grab quickly to capture moments like the first smile, rolling over, first steps, and that sort of thing. This camcorder appealed as it had an internal hard disk drive that could hold 20G of data which at the time was a pretty big memory. For our use, this still is a large memory.
