... on all the range meaning more bits to carry, buy and read up on. Only had one Sony camcorder , a hi8 and wasn’t impressed with that or the TV I brought at the same time, always thought of them as the odd man out with memory sticks, Beta max etc, so that just leaves JVC in the frame. JVC Everio GZ-MG21 ... recently upgraded my camcorder from a sony one that took 8mm tapes to the JVC hard drive 20gb. The JVC is very compact it has the video and it also has a built in digital camera which is an added bonus the camera isnt excellent but its just as good if not better than the £80 digital cameras you can buy, the only thing the JVC didnt have which the sony did was night vision mode which i found to be a great extra on the sony, what the JVC had instead was a light at the front which can be turned on by a button on the side and to be honest its not that good, It does light the room up but the picture doesnt seem to be very good when you play it back, another reason i bought ... JVC GR-D23EK ... up an error message , as if it needed recharging. However on arrival home and further inspection the cassette he was trying to change seems to have got stuck in the camera . Try as we may all we could get was an E01 error message . The manual says remove power supply , wait a while and then reconnect and start using the camera again . It states if the indicator remains contact your nearest JVC dealer . Now here s the rub , we returned to the dealer who was not helpful at all even though it is a specialist camera store. We had purchased from Jessop s , feeling there would be support here if needed . He did all the things we had tried with the camera to no avail .... JVC GR-D240 ... off it is excellent, the anti-shake smoothes out the footage considerably from what I can tell. The battery charges fast although it doesn t last very long. A Mini DV tape holds 1hr of footage; the battery will last with the screen out 1hr 5mins. I find that always a bit optimistic especially if you keep turning the camera on and off the battery is quickly consumed. With new batteries from JVC starting at £50 for the exact same on found in the box. I m determined not to require one. It s no use buying a cheap one off Ebay or somewhere. They are NOT PAL resolution and most likely your phone could capture better video. This is the real deal like all the high-end vid...
