... light, compact and well-built. when using an 8 Gb SD card - you have 3 hours recording time on the lowest quality setting (1440x1080p) , 2 hours on the lowest 1920p HD compression setting and 1 hour recording time on the highest quality HD setting. i have used a class 6 SD card and have not been disappointed. buying a 32 Gb class 10 SD card would be a good idea and a perfect match for this little beast. battery life is superb. full charge took around 2 hours, I think. the digital cinema colour is indeed making the colours vivid. 5.1 channel surround mic is a good feature although i keep mine on zoom mic setting thereby capturing sound from what's on the viewfinder. has face detection, copes with low lighting conditions, you can go as low as f 1.8. comes with its own movie editing software but i have been using pinnacle studio 12. because it is lightweight, capturing wonderful moments is no longer a huge task. fits quite nicely on the palm of the hand.
Worldwide, there is a strong and growing trend toward large-screen, high-image-quality televisions and high-definition (HD) broadcasting. In line with this, manufacturers are transitioning to HD quality in all other types of video equipment too. Panasonic, consistent with its long-time position as a leader in the video field is proud to introduce an advanced full-HD 3CCD camcorder, the HDC-SD9.
The HDC-SD9 offers full-HD 1920 x 1080 progressive recording (25 frames per second) to capture images with a richness and beauty simply not possible with previous consumer camcorders. Users can record motion images with the kind of film-like quality enjoyed in movies at the cinema. Even though there is a natural conflict between high image quality and a high compression ratio, the 17-Mbps bit rate of the HDC-SD9 gives superb image quality and motion response, while its high compression ratio enables one full hour of recording onto a 4-GB SD Memory Card (in HX mode) at full-HD resolution. The model also introduces such features as Face Detection and the Intelligent Shooting Guide, which make it easier to capture mistake-free shots. It also offers Panasonic's original 3CCD camera system, Advanced O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), and a Leica Dicomar lens - three technologies that team up to deliver full-HD images of exquisite beauty. Viewed on today's high-quality large-screen TVs, video clips shot with the HDC-SD9 are simply breathtaking, with vivid coloring, intricate detail and exceptional clarity.
