is this cam punching above it's weight (Samsung VP-D371W)

Advantages: great sound capture, anti glare screen, dv format, quality finish

Disadvantages: poor low light quality, lack of expantion

i bought this cam off ebay for around £100, well worth it for the money.

this cam records onto miniDV tape which are still the best medium as HDD and flash based ones often have grainy and horrid picture quality.
this cam does not pose itself as some kind of fake HD cam or does it promise Hollywood quality. But what it is, is a good hearty camera with all the features a normal person would need.
it boasts some great features like a 34x optic zoom and a great microphone
it does however have its downsides. picture quality it not the best in low light conditions and the sensor does not capture colours the best, also there is a lack of a expansion slot for a external microphone.
the screen is not a glossy piece, and that is a good thing because it reduces glare.
the menu and button interface is easy enough to use and overall this is a great cam for normal sessions.

Summary: a good cam for the price, you could do a lot worse
