We bought this camcorder in May 2010 in preparation for a family holiday. Having already got a decent digital camera and camcorder we decided that they were too bulky to carry around. Past experience had taught us that because they weren't convenient, they would end up staying in the hotel room! After doing a little research we came across this one on play.com for £99. It was subsequently on offer in our local Asda for £97 which we thought was a great price. Please note though that this excludes any memory cards which is an additional cost to consider.
This wear the Sanyo comes in! Classed as a 'dual' camcorder, we bought it to take both stills and video footage. On the whole, we were very pleased with the performance.
It is small and lightweight to carry around. It feels fairly solid and the controls were intuitive and easy to master, even without referring to the manual. We put a 16gb sdhc card into it and this gave us 2 1/2 hours of recording time.
The battery lasted well - a couple of days between charges, even when camcorder was being used a lot.
The only slight disappointment was the camera itself - sometimes the delay between pressing the button and taking the pictures seemed very long. Also, nighttime pictures didn't come out brilliantly, even on the night setting.
Generally, for the price, I was very pleased though. It is extremely convenient and was kept in a pocket most of the time. This meant it was always to hand to capture spontaneous moments - something that wouldn't have happened with a larger camera. It is also quick to start up meaning that there was very little delay when you want to start shooting.
A great little camera that's perfect for families and can be kept on hand at all times!
