Sony Handycam DCR-IP5

Description: Model ID DCR-IP5 / Sony Handycam DCR-IP5 - Camcorder - 680 Kpix - optical zoom: 10 x - Micro MV tape - silver / DCR-IP5, the world's smallest handycam, features a revolutionary ultra-compact recording media. Also known as the "Network Handycam IP (Image Portal)", the basic ... more
Sony Handycam DCR-IP5 ... concept for using "IP" is to stand for the new generation, MPEG-2 recording format and PC/network friendly format, which is different from the conventional video camera concept. The DCR-IP5 makes use of an innovative new storage medium to achieve its minute proportions. The MICROMV cassette is barely as large as a postage stamp, with a size that's 70% smaller than a MiniDV cassette.

In the search for a new format, Sony selected MPEG-2 compression due to the already widely accepted popularity of DVD players and software. MPEG-2 provides faithful compression of high-quality image data, encouraging the miniaturization of the recording media. Coupled with optical coating technology, Carl Zeiss lenses promise better contrast, color saturation and image brilliance. Only the world's best optical block complements Sony's advanced digital imaging know-how. It reaps this synergy to deliver unsurpassed video and still image quality. The camcorder's sensitive horizontal and vertical motion vector sensors pick up the unwanted jittering caused by an unsteady hand. These shakes are then compensated by the Super SteadyShot system, eliminating unwanted blurs, giving you smoother, more enjoyable video. The DCR-IP5 also has a Multi Picture Search feature.

One of the most flexible and compact dv Camera Sony have bought out. I bought one of these when I visited America to capture some of the local sights and sounds. not having much video camera knowledge at the time I was tempted by the low price and stylish compact look that no other make of camera can match. There are helpful guides included in the box and the usual 12 month warranty details just in case. Look: the camera is chrome and manages to achieve a modern look without being tacky or mistaken for something out of a star trek movie! the thinner touch screen is easier to view than previous models due to its increases size. the buttons are easy to press although it ...

capabilities. However following a visit from a similarly minded ludite friend complete with her camcorder, I decided to take a closer look at what was available. My friend has a Sony TRV 22 and I found that it was simple to record our children playing and play back the captured images with ease! As we were due to travel to the States for an extended holiday the following month, I thought that a camcorder would be an excellent buy. I wanted to be able to record the trip in the form of a video diary. So it was that in may last year I took the plunge into the world of the unknown? I had been very impressed with my friends? camcorder but before making my final purchase I ...

We've been using the Sony p23 for just over six months now, filming everything from watersports to the odd dodgy flick and we remain impressed with the overall quality of the thing. It feels built to last and the only quibbles are minor. It certainly won't replace your stills camera though, although images saved to the on-board memory stick in fine mode are okay, but even better if you reduce them to two-thirds the original size. Unless you want top-notch stills though, the beauty of the sony is that you only need take one camera with you. When you get home, simply pop selected images onto the memory stick and cart them over to the pc for a bit of editing. ...
