In 2002, one of 2 things is going to happen to me; either I become a father or I go on an expensive holiday with my wife. Whatever happens I wanted a camcorder to capture the memories. After doing a great deal of research I plumped for Sony's DCR-PC110E, a mini-DV camcorder packed full of features for both the amateur and keen hobbyist alike. There was one drawback, or rather 1200 of them - pounds. Could I honestly justify the expense? Not really, but I stumbled across a deal and bought it on the spot. It was one of the most rewarded impulses I have ever had. I got the PC110E home and unpacked it straight away. Wow I thought that is small, a CD could be used to hide it completely from view, its dimensions were that small (122x122x60mm) and it weighs about 0.5kg, well distributed which adds balance and comfort. The camera boasts a Carl Zeiss T Star lens which is an improvement on earlier CZ Vario Sonner ones. This enables a 10x optical zoom and upto a 40x digital zoom. The picture produced is clear and bright, colour balance is excellent and shaking pictures are limited by an image stabiliser. When playing back your videos the quality is on a par with DVD. Digital effects are easy to use and you don't have to be a camcorder guru to get to grips with them. Playback zoom is a personal favourite. If you're looking for a camcorder that packs just about every feature and mode you could ever ask for into a small package, you'd be hard pushed to find a more enticing offer than the PC110E. It may cost a lot of money, but as the old saying goes, why have cotton when you can have silk?
It would be a good idea to read this review if you have ever considered buying a camcorder. The Sony pc110 is a high specification mini digital camcorder( images can be manipulated on your home pc) which I have found to be an excellent product. It has a 40x digital zoom; both in and output terminals for pc linkup; can take still images; carl zeiss t lens; usb connection; automatic pop up flash and a built in video mail mode. The images produced by this camcorder are outstanding and, once adjusted with your pc, can produce brilliant contrasts and focus points. The viewfinder is in the form of a colour 2.5-inch lcd screen and it is supplied with 4mb of storage (expandable). The one feature that means most to me above all the technical jargon is the fact that it is compact and has a superb build quality. I have dropped mine on many occasions and have suffered no ill effects. Overall, this would be the ideal camera for anyone who is likely to have his or her stuff knocked around (cyclists, skiers etc.) A great buy if you want it to last ages.
This is the second 1 mega pixel camcorder from sony. The PC110E is a very small, light and compact camcorder and has a solid feel about it. It is held by the palm strap attaching to a small plastic pistol grip. This arrangement takes some getting used to and, to ensure steady shooting, its often necessary to use your left hand for added support. There is also a, Carl Zeiss lens which is much easier to use than the menu selector on other cameras. Other features are the zoom rocker, a still picture button, contorls for infra-red night shooting and a dual function button. It is a very easy camera to use as on the right- hand side these buttons are within reach of your index finger. The lens has a 10-speed optical and 40- speed zoom. In addition there is a microphone and headphone socket and a button that enables the super laser link infra-red AV transfer for wireless playback with an optical receiver. Also at the back there is a viewfinder, and below this is the four-position thumb operated power mode selector. The LCD panel also folds out to reveal VCR playback and memory stick controls. Handy isn't it? Despite all these features, it is still a very easy camera to use. In auto mode the white balance is normally excellent and if you want you can just switch back to manual exposure. Here you'll find it just as easy and simple as the focus distance is displayed on the screen to make life easier in low light. Still pictures have a maximum resolution of 1,152 x 864. However, on the memory stick, where the images are stored, only five can be stored at anyone time as it is only 4 MB. with your recordings and images you can send them quickly round the net as a recording, lasting 40 seconds is put in the format of MPEG-1. So when you load it up onto your PC theres no need to make the conversion. But at £1,700 inc VAT, it is a very expensive model. But it is truly worth it. if you want, lets says, digital still camera images
, an easy-to-use camcorder, loadsa features, then this is the camera that you're looking for. So if you have the money, then I got 2 words for you: "BUY IT!"
