Advantages: Small
Disadvantages: Wrong instructions, nightmare to transfer data over
My parents bought my husband and I this camcorder for Christmas 2007 as we were expecting a baby and we thought it would be lovely to be able to record him.
It cost just over £200 and came well wrapped in bubble wrap and a box. The camera is designed to be compact and has a 40 x optical zoom. It also has an LCD touch screen. The battery can last up to 9 hours and has an "easy to use" function.
It is quite small, can virtually fit in the palm of your hand and takes mini dvd disks to store the recording on to.
It is easy to use (although I think there are still more functions I am yet to discover!) and lightweight so you hardly notice you are carrying it around with you.
I am however, really disappointed with the product. The instructions that came with it don't seem to match the camera therefore you have to guess how to transfer the recordings accross to allow you to edit them. During this guess work I have lost some of my recordings and am left wanting to bang my head against a brick wall!
I have spoken to Sony who are helpful but we can't seem to resolve the problem of transfering everything over.
Overall, it's been a nightmare and I'd avoid it!
Summary: Buy a different camera!
